The following is a summary of the doctrinal beliefs of Liberty Baptist Church based on the Word of God.
We Believe that the Bible is the Word of God, super-naturally inspired and preserved; that it is fully inerrant; and that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life. For reasons of textual reliability, we choose to use the King James Bible as the standard for preaching and teaching. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
We Believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God. (Deut. 6:4; John 14:10, 26; I John 5:7)
We Believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution and all forms of Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin. (Genesis1-2; Exodus 20:11)
We Believe that God, by His sovereign choice and out of love for men, sent Christ into the world to save sinners. (Luke 19:10)
We Believe that Jesus Christ became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; II Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8). He accomplished our redemption through his death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice; and our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; I Peter 1:3-5). After His bodily resurrection, Jesus ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He fulfills His ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate (Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; Rom. 8:34; I John 2:1-2).
We Believe that salvation is the gift of God delivered to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19).
We Believe that salvation with its forgiveness of sins, its importation of a new nature, and its hope of eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership, or man's effort. Salvation is solely "...by grace through faith." (Eph. 2:8-9) We teach that a true believer is eternally secure. He cannot lose his salvation, but sin may interrupt the joy of his fellowship with God and bring the loving discipline of his heavenly Father (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38-39; I Cor. 1:4-8; I Peter 1:4-5). We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Rom. 13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15).
We Believe the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to everlasting punishment (Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29; 11:25-26; Rev. 12-13; 20:5-6). We teach that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and glorified body are united to be forever with the Lord (Luke 23:43; II Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; 3:21; I Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:4-6).
We Believe that it is the goal of every Christian to grow and mature spiritually through obedience to the Word of God and the indwelling Spirit (II Cor. 10:5; James 1:22).
We Believe that the Holy Spirit is a person, yet is God, and possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals them at the moment of their salvation, and fills them in response to confession of sin and their yielding to Him. We also believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or the necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, II Peter 1:21, John 16:8-11; Romans 8:9; I Cor. 6:19, 12:12-14; II Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14, 4:30, 5:18, I John 2:20, 27).
